The name «The Central Asian Switzerland» is by right applied to Kyrgyzstan owing to the fascinating mountain landscapes, impetuous rivers and emerald lakes. Deserts and steppes encircle the snow-capped tops of the Tien-Shan, the slopes of which abound in wild flowers and grasses. The wesome mountain tops and magnificent alpine meadows, since time immemorial, have been called The Tien-Shan – the Celestial Mountains. «The Celestial Mountains» still keep their secrets in the entrails of barrows and under the waters of the blue lake Issyk-Kul. The number of pictures presented in this publication do not represent the complete image of Kyrgyzstan. The wonders of nature and the unknown pages of its history still wait for discoverers and explorers.
